There are many Abruzzese stories that have been passed on from generations. The most significant is that of "Lu Lope", which is staged annually in Pretoro, Italy on the first Sunday of May.

It is a story of rejoicing and giving thanks to St. Domenic, patron saint of Pretoro, for protecting and the safe return of a child, which was left unattended momentarily. A ferocious wolf snatched the child while the parents were out grabbing firewood in the forest.

Why do we celebrate this story? Because this story brings to light our heritage, moral values, and faith.
